General eHow Update – More Keyword Research Advice

keywords 150x150 General eHow Update More Keyword Research AdviceThis is just a general eHow update on what I have been doing and what I have learned.  First off, if I could give anyone advice on how to make money on eHow, I would tell them this:  Keep writing articles and do keyword research.  That is all there really is to it in my opinion.  I don’t have any magic forumals or magic potion that I put into my articles.  I spend hours everyday doing keyword research.  I keep a running list of keywords that I want to write an eHow article around.  Here’s how my day basically breaks down.

After I wake up and eat breakfast, I start writing articles.  I will usually write articles for the first 2 or 3 hours of my day.  All I have to do is pull out my keyword list and continue down the list.  Whenever I first started, I would waste an hour just trying to think of something to write about.  Whenever I did write an article, I was not that confident on the keywords that I was using.  However, I quickly changed that method and developed this new method that I use now.   After that, I take a break and do other things.  I come back to the computer at night and start doing keyword research.  This is where the bulk of my time is spent.  I will usually spend 4 hours a night doing keyword research.

How I do my keyword research:

I still use Google’s Keyword Tool and I now use Micro Niche Finder. I could probably do all of my keyword research just using MNF but I like to use the Keyword tool as well.  I start by entering a general keyword phrase into the keyword tool.  When I see something that looks interesting, I plug it into Micro Niche Finder. Here is what it looks like when you do a search with MNF:

As you can see from above, this tool is really powerful.  Now let’s get to the things that make this keyword research tool simply amazing.  Let’s look at the term “cubic zirconia engagement rings” more closely.  NOTE: I have not wrote an article on this term so feel free to do so and let me know if it earns you any money!

You can see that this particular search term is searched 8,100 times a month.  This is exact phrase search so they are typing exactly the term in.  Then we can see that the average cost per plick is $2.01.  Pretty good for a search term that is searched so much.  Off to the far right you will notice a green checkmark with a 26 beside it.  The 26 is the SOC or stength of compeition.  This is basically telling me that the strength of the competition is low (26) and that I should go ahead and use this keyword term (Green Check).  Next, I can click on the keyword term and it will bring up more options to use as seen below:

Pretty powerful stuff here.  I like to click the “Adword Ads” to see how many ads will display for that keyword term.

We can see here that there are 20 ads that will display for this keyword term.  If you wish to see exaclty what ads will display, you could click the link and it will show you what ones will display.  Pretty powerful stuff.  You can also use the “Google Suggest Keyword Search” to dig deeper into that term.  However, since this is a pretty long keyword term, it doesn’t display anything relevant that we could use.  Below is a sample of how you can use this tool.  I have blocked off the keyword terms because I have used two of them.  However, you can see the different check boxes that it gives you under SOC.  Red X means don’t even try it, Yellow means it’s possible to rank well, and Green means that if you know what you are doing, you should be in the first two pages of Google Results.

Not even really a fair compairson is it? This is just a fraction of the things that Micro Niche Finder.can help you do.  You can use it for other things besides eHow as well.  Yesterday I earned $25.62 and today I earned $20.53.  I am currently averaging around $20.36 a day right now.  I hope that my earnigns continue to grow as I utilize this new method of keyword research more.  It has definitely paid off so far!  I hope that this has given you guys a little more insight in how I do my keyword research.  Hope you enjoyed it!

  • Not to be too critical, but are you telling me that you spend 4 hrs researching + 2 hrs writing articles for $20? If so, I have some odd jobs to offer you…and I will pay you $4/hr, which is a significant raise!

    @John –
    Yes that is what I am telling you. It might seem a little confusing to someone who is not familiar with residual income. In your example, I would only be making $3.33 an hour. However, my articles can earn for years and years. Let’s do a little math on this one so that everyone is clear on this. Let’s say that during my 6 hours (4 hours research and 2 hours writing) I produce 10 articles. In one month, those 10 articles earn me, hypothetically, $10.00. And that’s even low balling it here. So for the first month, I only made $1.67 an hour. Sounds bad right?! However, my articles continue to earn without any additional work done to them. So by the second month, they have earned $20.00 and I am at $3.33 an hour. Let’s fast forward a year and use the $10.00/month average. My 10 articles have earned me $120 (Really low balling it here). I am now making $20.00 an hour. Fast forward another year and they have made me $240, netting me $40.00. That’s the beauty of residual income. It keeps earning without any additional work added.

    If you pay me $4.00 an hour can I only work 6 hours and you will keep paying me $4.00 an hour for 2 years? Heck, i’d do it for $4.00 a day if you paid me that every single day for years to come. If so, i’ll take you up on that offer. Think of it this way John, if you work at McDonald’s for 2 years, are they going to keep paying you even after you have left? Didn’t think so.
